Introduction to Planning & Scheduling

Creating, scheduling and interrogating project programmes.

Aims & Objectives:

How to create a Microsoft Project programme and use it to interrogate the information being provided by suppliers and subcontractors.

On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Create their own programme using Microsoft Project.
  • Update and re-schedule their programme using progress data.
  • Challenge planning & programme data received from subcontractors.
  • Track performance and forecast using s-curves and histograms.

Course Outline:

  • Introduction to Planning & Scheduling
  • Creating a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
  • Building an activity list and logic linking
  • Identifying the critical path and understanding ‘Float’.
  • Quantifying durations and measuring progress
  • Resource loading and producing a histogram
  • Plan v Actual s-curves
