To address the safeguarding knowledge and skills necessary for identifying and responding appropriately to concerns about children's safety and well-being.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the training participants should be able to:
- discuss what is meant by safeguarding, abuse and neglect
- identify the signs and indicators of abuse
- have gained or renewed knowledge in relation to the legislation and guidance on safeguarding children
- know what to do if there are concerns about a child
- identify the impact of abuse on children and on all those involved
- identify organisational responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children and apply these to practice.
This course will be delivered in a classroom environment with a combination of theory sessions and practical demonstrations. This will include the following:-
- Initial Assessment
- Interactive Exercises
- Individual or Group Exercises
- Discussion
- Visual Aids e.g. short DVD/video, models, samples, etc
- Open Workshop
- Feedback Activity
- Final Assessment
By the end of this course candidates will receive a NSPCC Safeguarding Children: Everybody's Business Certificate which will equipped delegates with the knowledge and awareness to work with and around children.
