Overview:
Having an awareness of Equal Opportunities legislation can prevent a business facing an expensive/newsworthy appearance in court on a charge of discrimination! However, there are more subtle reasons for increasing staff's awareness of Equal Opportunities issues including a very good business case for encouraging a diverse workforce. As a manager you have an additional responsibility to ensure your team follows best practice principles in relation to equal opportunities.
The aim of this one-day workshop is to promote cooperative working relationships
within an organisation.
Aims & Objectives:
By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
- Explain the difference between diversity and equal opportunities
- Identify discrimination and how it works
- Increase their awareness of equal opportunities legislation
- Understand the moral & business case for equality of opportunity
- Increase awareness of their own, and others', attitudes towards equality issues
- List the benefits of equal opportunities in the workplace
- Understand their rights and responsibilities as a manager in relation to equal opportunities
- Explain how to develop a working environment free from harassment
- Compile an action plan to implement their individual learning points from the workshop
A highly participative day of short tutor inputs, group sessions and individual
work, which provides participants with an opportunity to explore equal opportunities
issues that managers may face at work.
