Train the Trainer

Overview:

Training and developing others in the workplace is an important role and to ensure that it is effective this course has been designed to develop those skills through practical exercises.

  • Delegates will fully understand the Learning Cycle and how to apply it to either one to one training or group training programmes
  • Delegates will be aware of how important their communication skills are in ensuring that the learning event is effective in developing the learner

Aims & Objectives:

  • To know and understand the Learning Cycle and each of its component parts
  • To be aware of the Learning Styles of individuals and how to design appropriate training to suit each style
  • To develop the skills necessary to train and develop others, either on a one to one basis or as a group so that the learning is transferred

  • The Learning Cycle:
    • Identifying learning needs
    • Design learning to meet the needs
    • How to carry out the learning event
    • Evaluate the training against the identified needs
  • The Learning Styles of the Individual
    • Understanding learning styles and how that impacts on the learning design
    • Accelerated learning techniques
    • Designing appropriate training
      • One to one
      • Group training
  • Delivering the learning event:
    • Planning & preparation
    • Structure of the learning session
    • Your communication style as the trainer
      • Personal communication skills
      • Question techniques
      • Giving effective feedback
    • Managing practical & theoretical information
    • Using alternative training techniques
    • Managing group dynamics
  • Logistics & planning of training courses
  • Evaluating training

The course will involve group & individual exercises, facilitated discussion and facilitator input.

Each session outlined above will involve practical exercises building on each other to enable the delegates to design and practise a training session throughout the programme.

This course is designed for a maximum of 9 delegates.

Completion of the Learning Styles Questionnaire

Each delegate should bring subject information that they will be training on in the future, including any support material. This will be used as a basis for the programme that the delegate will design.
