Presentation Skills (ICE Attribute No.6)

Overview:

One of the greatest fears we have as individuals is presenting information to others in a formal environment.  Yet we have to sell our goods, our ideas, our processes and our facts to both internal and external people. This one day programme is designed to help deal with those fears, give the delegates the skills and knowledge to plan, prepare and deliver effective impactive presentations and assumes that delegates have attended the one day communication skills course.

Aims & Objectives:

Aim of the programme: 

Delegates will know how to improve their interpersonal skills

By the end of the session delegates will be able to:

  • Explain the key points that ensure the presentation hits the mark!
  • Describe the structure of an effective presentation
  • Identify at least 4 key points that the presenter must do to ensure success
  • Explain how to interact with the audience
  • List at least three considerations that have to be made about the presentation venue.

  • The purpose & structure of the presentation
    • Impactive introduction to your subject

    • Communicating with effect & building rapport with your audience

  • Interacting with the audience
    • Dealing with questions
    • Dealing with interruptions
  • Using visual aids
    • In support of your presentation not instead!
    • Foundation techniques of PowerPoint
  • The venue & logistics
  • Action planning

The programme will involve:

  • Group & individual exercises & individual presentations
  • Facilitated group discussions
  • Facilitator input

Intended For:

Graduates

The programme will involve practical exercises & participative discussions and is designed for no more than 8 attendees

Pre-Course Requirements:

Each delegate needs to bring the following two items with them:

A presentation about themselves & what the key learning points for them from year one in the organisation which will last for no longer than 5 minutes

A piece of prose or poetry, which when read out loud would last for at least 2 minutes.
