The ICE Reviews - What you Need to Know(Particularly post April 2015 ICE process changes)

Overview:

This course is designed to provide an overview of the ICE Review process from the perspective of the:

  • Candidate
  • Supervising Civil Engineer
  • Delegated Engineer
  • Person responsible for the Initial and Continuing Professional Development budget (IPD/CPD)
  • Reviewer

Each of these duty holders has an important part to play in achieving a successful outcome to the Review procedure.

 

Aims & Objectives:

The aim of the course is to familiarise all the delegates - whatever their role - with the process and to help them maximise their contribution to a successful outcome of the ICE Professional Review.

Also, the course is intended to demystify the process, give delegates the opportunity to question a Reviewer and to help raise the confidence of the candidates.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the course, delegates will be clear as to the different Review options, namely:

  • Technician Professional Review (TPR) leading to - Eng Tech TMICE
  • Associate Member Professional Review (AMPR) - leading to AMICE
  • Member Professional Review (MPR) - leading to MICE
  • Member Professional Review (MPR) IEng option - I Eng MICE
  • Chartered Professional Review (CPR) - leading to CEng MICE
  • Technical Report Route (TRR) - leading to either Eng Tech TMICE, IEng MICE or CEng MICE.

Also potential candidates will be better equipped to decide which option is best - for them - or if an SCE/DE/Mentor be in a better position to give good advice, and fully understand the revised ICE documentation and procedures leading to Reviews.

Course Outline:

  • Brief history and purpose of the ICE Reviews
  • Introduction to ICE revised (mainly on-line) procedures (as from April 2015) for Standard Reviews, Training Schemes and their management, Technical Report Reviews, and recording and management of CPD
  • The relevant ICE Member Guidance Documents from April 2015, along with transitional arrangements (to December 2017).

    • Registered SCE/DE and/or Registered Mentor involvements
    • When am I ready to start preparing for the Review?
    • The Review preparation elements
    • SCE/DE and/or Mentor involvement

    • Preparation for the Written Exercise (where appropriate)
    • The Review Day - a Reviewer's perspective
  • Tutor presentations
  • Group and individual exercises
  • Question and answer sessions
  • Discussion and feed-back
  • Candidate action planning preparation

  • Potential Review candidates - All "Standard" and "Technical Report" Routes
  • Supervising Civil Engineers - pre and post registration with ICE
  • Delegated Engineers - supporting TA and TRR candidates
  • Mentors to be registered/registered on ICE Generic Training Scheme
  • Aspiring ICE Reviewers
  • Anyone else who can contribute to the process
