The submission portfolio (including the 2500 word training and experience records) and the project précis and presentation are vital pieces of evidence in your mission to convince your CIHT Reviewers that you have met the standards for CEng/IEng.
This one-day course will enable you to put these requirements into the wider perspective of the reviews themselves, and it will give you guidance on preparing the submissions.
By the end of the day you will be confident about the standards you need to reach, and you will have a strategy for demonstrating that you have achieved them.
Course Outline:
Session 1: Introduction
Working as a group, we shall identify what the standards are for CEng and IEng, and we shall identify all the evidence that we can marshal to prove your case. We shall consider good practice in report-writing and portfolio assembly, and you will undertake some exercises to put these principles into practice. Finally in this session, we shall compare the CIHT's training objectives with the standards for CEng and IEng, and draw key conclusions.
Session 2: The Portfolio of Evidence
We shall use the CIHT's guidance to help us draft appropriate framework for our CV's, our 2500 word training and experience records, how we achieve the competencies, and assemble other required documentation. We shall discuss the best balance between text and supporting documentation in the submission, and we shall share our experience with one another and identify best practice
Session 3: The Project
We shall conduct a similar analysis in order to share our strategies for deciding upon the Project Presentation, whether one or two projects, and the supporting evidence needed. There will be further individual and group exercises. Exchanging your ideas with others is a powerful means of identifying best practice, and in increasing your own confidence in the quality of what you can produce
Session 4: CPD Records and Professional Development Plan
We will look at the CPD requirements and how to fulfil them, and how to satisfy your CIHT Reviewers that you have sufficiently addressed your personal profile, SWOT analysis, and 2 years Personal Development Plan.
Session 5: Delegate's Feedback and Review for the Day
This is the chance for you to reflect on what has been valuable, and how to draw together the key benefits of the day. Delegates will finalise model structures for their submissions, and we shall work towards a consensus on the best way forward. Finally, we shall consider the process from the Reviewer's viewpoint. What are the Reviewers looking for? How will they assess your evidence?
