Gabion Retaining Wall Design

Gabion walls are retaining structures, providing economical and environmentally acceptable solutions to many situations. These structures are mass gravity walls with either stepped or flush faces depending upon the topography, engineering and visual requirements. This course has been prepared to describe the considerations and detail steps and best practice of designing gabion walls.

Overview:

Gain an insight understanding of the whole process of designing and specifying gabion walls.

Aims & Objectives:

On completing of this course, delegates will appreciate:

  • The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
  • Considerations on the geological setting and its implication to the project
  • Importance of ground investigation
  • Forms of contracts and contractor appointment
  • Difference between structural and geotechnical stability
  • Design process and Eurocode 7 compliance
  • Scope of specifications for gabion walls
