The FIDIC 2017 Contracts: The Theory and The Practice

This course takes delegates through the FIDIC 2017 Family of Contracts, examining the changes from the FIDIC 1999 contracts, then examines in detail, the most commonly used Conditions of Contract for Construction (Red Book).

At the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Appreciate the role and responsibilities of the key parties
  • Be aware of the changes within the FIDIC 2017 contracts
  • Successfully manage FIDIC contracts

Session 1 - Overview of the FIDIC 1999 family

  • Conditions of Contract for Construction (The "Red Book")
  • Short Form of Contract (The "Green Book")
  • Conditions of Contract for Plant and Design-Build (The "Yellow Book")
  • Conditions of Contract for EPC/Turnkey Project (The "Silver Book")

Session 2 - The Changes within the FIDIC 2017 contracts 

Conditions of Contract for Construction (The "Red Book") 1999

Session 3 - The Contract Documents 

Session 4 - Obligations and responsibilities of the Employer, the Contractor and the Engineer

Session 5 - Contract Administration and Procedures 

Session 6 - Quality and Defects Liability 

Session 7 - Design Responsibility and Liability 

Session 8 - Variations, Measurement and Payment Procedures 

Session 9 - Progress, Delays, Extensions of Time and Completion 

Session 10 - The Dispute Avoidance/Adjudication Board and the Resolution of Disputes

This course consists of lectures introducing delegates to the FIDIC 2017 Family of Contracts, examining the changes from the FIDIC 1999 contracts, and then considering in detail the most commonly used FIDIC 2017 Conditions of Contract for Construction (Red Book).

The training will also include case study examples for discussion and resolution.
