Mechanical and Electrical (Building Services) Awareness

This course will:

  • Set the scene in terms of historical context where Mechanical and Electrical services originated from in the UK
  • Present images of historical professionals and projects in the construction sector
  • Provide Historical content in terms of audience and delegate group

Aims & Objectives:

  • On completion of the course, the delegates will have a fundamental understanding of Mechanical and Electrical Building services in the UK.
  • The delegates will be able to distinguish between the key disciplines and how it fits into the construction industry.
  • The delegates will participate in a structured debate about their understanding of Building services and previous knowledge of the profession.
  • The delegates will be able to define and understand the different key design stages.
  • The delegates will be able to able to understand the relevant disciplines that are involved and contribute to Building services.
  • The delegates will gain an understanding of the different roles, complexities, and professions within the building services sector.
  • Upon completion, the delegates will have a fundamental understanding and background of Building Services and the role it plays in the construction sector.

Introduction to the different roles in Building Services in the construction sector

  • Consultancy 
  • Design 
  • Contracting-Install
  • FM Maintenance 
  • Expert witness

Mode of Delivery:

  • Delivered via PowerPoint presentation (Images/Bullet point/QA/Subject for discussion) during the main part of the seminar, with feedback activity after key subjects have been delivered. 
  • Delegates will also be split into groups for a relevant discussion on what their understanding is of Building services and asked about as an example their understanding of Zero Carbon and how they believe they can influence this sector.
  • The course will provide the delegates with a fundamental understanding, and background of Building services in the construction sector which is aimed at Graduates, apprentices, and technicians who wish to gain a basic knowledge of the profession and how it first into the construction Sector.
  • QA and feedback sheets will also be issued at the end of the session to each delegate and follow up briefing with the Course coordinator.
